Once the recorded clone is performing his act, run up and let the clone bat you up to the needed ledge. Or if you need to really launch yourself to what looks like an inaccessible ledge, record Winterbottom facing the target area and swinging his umbrella. To reach ledges, you can hop on top of one of the Winterbottoms and ride the clone beneath the desired platform. Now it's time to interact with your looped clones. By holding down a record button, you tape Winterbottom's trajectory through certain stretches and then release to set the actions in a running loop. These are not enough to collect all of the delicious pies, so Winterbottom must employ one special move - the ability to manipulate time. He can run, jump, and swing his umbrella. Winterbottom only has a few moves in his repertoire. But as charming as the game looks, it's only gravy compared to instantly addictive mechanics. No matter how many pies you've stuffed into your piehole. Should Winterbottom collide with one of his red clones, you must start the level over. A harmless, helpful blue clone will act in perpetuity while a red clone must be avoided at all costs. There are color elements inside the game, such as the coveted pies and the cloned Winterbottoms, which are useful cues about the doppleganger's solvency. The immediate star of the game is the silent movie style, complete with title placards and film grain befitting a Buster Keaton classic.
